Sini Kallioniemi
I’m a Finnish design student passionate about art, design, and sustainability.
My main interests include graphic design, visualising information, user- and human centered design, circular economy, and during the summer I like to take on public art projects.
Feel free to browse the Graphic Design and Paintings section, and visit Other Projects for some additional information.

Graphic Design
As a designer I'm most interested in projects that include illustration and result in a printed product like a magazine or a poster for example.
When it comes to design, one of my strengths is computer programs, I know how to use Adobe programs, especially Photoshop. Thanks to this I have the base skills that help me grasp new programs quickly.
Illustration for Luontofoorumi
Luontofoorumi 2026 reserved an empty seat for the guest of honor, an otter that had been roaming around Lahti during the summer. I was commissioned to create a vector illustration that could be used in the guest sign in the event.Pictures: Antti Sihlman, Lahden kaupunki.

Inspis Lahti Ry
During my studies at LAB University of Applied Sciences I did my practical training at Inspis, an organization that helps young adults move forward in life and supports their opportunities when it comes to work and studies.
I worked as a graphic designer and an artist. A lot of the things I'm designed were for their Eteenpäin Elämässä ("Forward in Life") project. My work tasks ranged from informational posters to job application templates. Working there opened my eyes of the importance of helping the youth and local community and inspired me to chase work that is meaningful.

Aarrejahti magazine
Aarrejahti (treasure hunt) is a magazine designed to help new or hesitant secondhand shoppers, inspire seasoned shoppers and to bring secondhand shops and shoppers together. This is a school project I worked on during a business scene studio. During the course I researched secondhand shops and became familiar with their time-consuming nature and the special treasure hunt experience that is so loved it has become a lifestyle to some.It was a challenge to address the needs of both types of customers (newbies and pros) and to make sure the solution wouldn't take away from the unique experience. There was also the challenge of limited budget, many secondhand shops don't have a huge budget and team might only consist of a couple of people. In the end, I created Aarrejahti.
Paintings
For me, before there was design, there was art which also shows up in my design work. My goal is to take on art projects here and there while also having fun with it during my free time.
This section focuses on public art projects and my art exhibition, for more art, check out the other projects section.
Taidepömpelit Kouvola
2023-2026
Taidepömpelit Kouvola is a project hosted by the city of Kouvola and local electric companies. The chosen artists get to paint their artwork on electric cabinets and are provided the necessary tools.
I have participated four times now and this is the project that sparked my love for public art.

Art for Lahti bus stop piÂlot progÂram
In August 2026 the city of Lahti implemented new bus stop arrangements that changed where cycling is allowed. Through Inspis Ry, I was tasked to pitch, design and paint a road painting to serve as a lighthearted way to remind passers-by that they should walk instead of cycling in the area.
For my final design I went with the famous otter that has been spotted around Lahti.

Luontosuhde exhibition
Luontosuhde was my first solo exhibition that focused on the relationship between human and nature. The exhibition included 16 artworks, mostly acrylic paintings made specifically for the occasion, but also a couple of paper mache sculptures and an upcycled frame that served as a guestbook.
I also designed a poster to advertise the exhibition and a business card to give out to visitors. The focal point of my exhibition was the 89 x 116 cm sized painting pictured below

Other
When it comes to art end design, I have my main passions, but I also have a passion for learning and experimenting. To keep the two main sections of this portfolio simple, I've dedicated this section to sharing everything else.
Ceramics
Working with ceramics is something I've been really interested during the past couple of years, and something I'd like to explore further. Most of my experience is of handbuilding techniques but I have made a few pieces using a self-made mould too. (4th and 5th pictures)
During summer 2026 I travelled to Tallinn, Estonia to take part in a wood firing symposium at the Estonian Academy of Arts where I made my own iteration of Iittala and Marimekko's Mariskooli (2nd and 6th pictures)
Paintings
Acrylic paints are something I've always had a lot of fun with. Most of my paintings feature bright colors, cute animals and other themes inspired by nature. Lately I've been experimenting with a more abstract style and using interesting materials in my paintings.
Digital art
Next to acrylic paints, digital art is my other main way of creating art. I've poured thousands of hours learning how to use photoshop and clip studio paint fluently. I've formed a cheerful style that reminds me of handmade collages with some mixed media elements.
